Earthshot Updates and SF Climate Week Events
Dear Earthshot allies,
It’s been a winter of deep introspection for the Earthshot team, and I think the carbon market and climate tech as a whole has experienced a similar reckoning. Nature restoration and conservation must become an investable asset class in order to scale to match the level of active degradation and rebalance climate systems. Yet we’ve been humbled by how early this market still is, and how much time it takes to close investments in reforestation. Planetary ecological systems are in a more dire situation than ever, and the success of restoration effects should not be derailed simply from general economic softness, news articles, or the fragility of banking systems.
The path forward is clear: support land stewards to more easily access payments for regeneration with greater equity and self-determination; build scientific rigor into development and verification; de-risk the investment process to scale up financing; regulate and standardize climate and nature claims for corporations and governments. All while restoring the relationship and indigenous understanding of humans within the rest of nature.
Many new technologies, financial instruments, and operational breakthroughs need to happen simultaneously to make this market work, which means we need a multitude of organizations working together in allyship for a common goal. In this spirit, we are co-hosting two events during SF Climate Week to build greater coherence and integrity, independent of organization.

Join our investor team
During this period of market flux, Earthshot has continued fundraising, and we’re now inviting our broader community to participate. We’ve more and more realized that the level of alignment and integrity within our investment team is critical in being able to make a difference at the deepest levels, and our dream is that individuals, family offices, and on-the–ground stakeholders, more so than VC or strategic corporates, form a coalition together to steward Earthshot for decades. We have a ~$300k allocation in our current funding round for smaller community checks. If any accredited investors (~$50k min) want to join our investor team alongside folks like these, please email troy@earthshot.eco for information to participate this week.
Project Investments
We also have some epic new philanthropic carbon projects looking for funding partnerships, including 15,000 hectare land repurchase on behalf of the Puyanawa in Brazil (~$2m investment) and a profound conservation project with Shipibo communities in Peru ($300k catalytic grant + ~$3.5m investment). Please reply to this email if you’d like more details.
Wishing you all a beautiful week,
The Earthshot team
